Dorothy Ramsay

Dorothy Ramsay is a celebrated Cumbrian artist whose vibrant career spans over seven decades.

Now in her 80s, Dorothy lives and works near Keswick, drawing inspiration from the west coast and the dramatic landscapes around Blencathra. Trained in etching at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, her practice includes painting, printmaking, and weaving – blending abstraction and realism in a distinctive, light-filled style. She is influenced by artists like Winifred Nicholson and Paul Klee,

Dorothy’s work has been exhibited widely and can be seen at Northern Lights Gallery in Keswick and the EVAN Gallery in Penrith. A short film by Neil Emery about her life and art has also won awards on the independent festival circuit, shining a spotlight on her remarkable creative journey.
